She graduated with honors from Kings College with a degree in zoology. After earning her degree, she studied bats, geese and whales in the wild. Then she worked at the BBC Natural History Unit as a researcher and later as a presenter on the Really Wild Show. Davies began her writing career in her thirties when she started writing scripts for kids programs and gradually moved to articles for newspapers, magazines and then novels.
