Nikki Giovanni Website:http://nikki-giovanni.com Birthplace: Knoxville, TN Most recent address:Blacksburg, VA Author Biography Nikki Giovanni was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and grew up in Lincoln Heights, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated with honors from Fisk University. She furthered her studies at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Social Work and Columbia University's School of Fine Arts. She published her first book of poetry in 1968. Early in her career she was dubbed the "Princess of Black Poetry". Her children's picture book "Rosa", about civil rights legend Rosa Parks, received a Caldecott Honor and a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor in 2006. Giovanni lives in Blacksburg, Virginia, where she is a University Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech. Updating Results ...
