Mr. Pinkney died of a heart attack October 20, 2021. He was educated at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. Pinkney worked as a designer and in advertising. He once served on the United States Postal Stamp Advisory Committee and helped design four stamps. Pinkney will be remembered for his picture books on African American themes. He received a 2009 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor for "Moon Over Star." He received the 2010 Caldecott Medal for "Lion & The Mouise." Updating Results ...
