Bill Martin Website:www.billmartinjr.com Birthplace: Hiawatha, KS USA Author Biography Bill Martin was born in Hiawatha, Kansas on March 20, 1916. He died August 11, 2004. Martin's childhood home had no books and he did not learn to read until college. He attended Emporia State University and then went on to receive a Master's Degree and a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from Northwestern University. Martin was a teacher and then a school principal. He later worked for a textbook publisher and helped develop basal reading programs. The author and his wife, Betty Jeanne, are the parents of two children, Gary and Danielle. He is sometimes known by his full name, William Ivan Martin. Martin is best known for his simple picture books. "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" was a Boston Globe-Horn Book Picture Book Honor Book in 1990. Updating Results ...
