Gary Paulsen Birthplace: MN USA Most recent address:NM USA Author Biography Gary Paulsen was born in Minnesota on May 17, 1939. The author passed away October 13, 2021. He ran away from home and joined a carnival at the age of fourteen. Paulsen later graduated from Bemidji State University. He worked on a farm, in construction, as a truck driver, a dog sled racer and as a satellite technician. His hobbies included sailing, sledding and motorcycling. Paulsen will be remembered for his novels that feature the wild outdoors. "Dogsong" was a Newbery Honor Book in 1986, as was "Hatchet" in 1988 and "Winter Room" in 1990. The author received the Ludington Award for his contribution to children's literature in 1994. He received the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in 1997. Updating Results ...
