She currently resides in Maine with her family. Growing up, she was a shy child who always felt at home in the pages of books she read and wrote. Although she loved to read and write, becoming an author was not her first stop. Boxer was a television reporter for many years. At the age of 49 she decided to publish her debut picture book, Voice That Won the Vote. Boxer is now an author of several nonfiction picture books. She is an advocate for children understanding how much their voice matters. Seat at the Table was awarded the Bank Street Best Children’s Book of 2021.
