Zoboi always thought that New York City was magical, it inspired her love of fantasy, science fiction, and mythology writing. Zoboi currently resides in Maplewood, New Jersey with her husband, 3 children, and 3 pet turtles. Zoboi spends her time working in Art Organizations as both a teacher for the arts as well as a writer-in-residence. Her primary focus is on teen girls in Brooklyn and Haiti, where her goal is to assist young girls to better their critical reading and writing skills.
