She currently resides in Colorado with her spouse and two sons. Andrea attended Wellesley College for medical school. She later went on to earn a Masters in creative writing at Lesley University as well as a Masters in environmental studies from the University of Indiana-Bloomington. Her love for mythical creatures came from playing with Chinese lions in front of the library at Harvard University where her father was a professor.
