She received a B.S. from the University of Kansas and attended the Science and Environmental Reporting Program at New York University. Carson began her writing career at Scholastic working on their science magazine for 4th-6th graders. She has been a freelance writer for twenty years. Carson also writes magazine articles and educational materials for both students and adults.
