Celebrating National Library Week at Haven Elementary
(April 13-18)
Kid's Choice Award
Host a favorite book drawing Have boys and girls write the titles of their favorite library book and their names and drop in a box. Display favorite books for checkout the rest of the Month. Students who participate will receive a bookmark.
Genre Day:
Display each category at a different station. The categories will include biography, fantasy, fiction, folktale, mystery, poetry, non-fiction. Play a game of Who am I? Students will visit at least three stations to learn about them.
Brag about your library: Have students write about what Haven's library means to them or how it has changed their lives on an index card. Drop the index cards in the Brag About Your Library box. Each day two cards will be chosen and read over the Intercom during Morning Announcements. Students whose cards were read would receive prizes.
Estimation Day:
Have students estimate how many books are in the Fiction collection. Class with the closet estimate wins bookmarks.
