School Library Journal - 05/01/2025 PreS-Gr 2—Bear Feels Sad is a rhyming tale about taking care of each other. It's important, it's beautiful, and it's an excellent way to teach empathy to the very young. Here the coziest, cutest bear you've ever seen has one of those no-good, very bad days. His attempts at self-care do nothing to fill the hole inside. He is a social creature and wants to be around friends! What ensues is a lesson in being comfortable with yourself, but also considering the feelings of others. It touches on the joys of distraction, but lands on the joys of service. With cozy woodland vibes (and fun illustrative nods for adults, like a Poe-inflected raven), it's an ideal read. VERDICT A good story of connection and emotional regulation for young children. - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
