School Library Journal - 05/01/2025 Gr 3–7—With villainous young scientist Steve McEvil lost in outer space at the end of the previous volume, readers should expect a new direction to this funny series. Enter Eve McEvil, Steve's younger sister, who is enjoying life without the tensions caused by an older sibling. Their Grandpa knows that Eve is the only one smart enough to figure out how to get Steve and his friends home, but she is refusing to help. Meanwhile, on the planet Lux, Steve and his friends have to figure out how to stop the oncoming invasion of Xerxes, a warlord bent on conquering the galaxy. This series is wild. Taking from many traditional concepts in science fiction, the plot is able to transition and jump around in ways readers won't expect, while also discussing family dynamics and unique superhero weaknesses. These mad scientists will bring laughter and smiles to readers. VERDICT Mad science and superheroes collide again in this galactic adventure where characters are much more than they seem. - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
