Booklist - 03/15/2021 While lounging by the pond, Goat decides to impress Frog: “I’m on it!” Goat says, balancing on a stump. Frog, somewhat reluctantly, joins in, leaping onto a rock. “I’m on it, too!” From there, the feats escalate to zany proportions, with Goat eventually teetering in a wheelbarrow balanced on a ladder, wrapped in a garden hose, and way high up, and Frog—poor Frog!—desperately trying to keep up while perched on a traffic cone and clinging to a laundry basket. Tsurumi’s playful scenes are dense with visual jokes among the jostling towers of random objects, neatly illustrating the language concepts at work in the straightforward speech-balloon text. Meanwhile, unmistakable emotional cues, particularly from Frog, add to the comedy and give the story a tidy narrative arc. This comics-style entry in the Elephant and Piggie line is boisterous fun. - Copyright 2021 Booklist.
