School Library Journal - 11/01/2015 PreS-Gr 2—A pourquoi retelling of the story of Noah's Ark, told in a unique and clever way. It begins to rain, the kind of rain that feels like it will never stop. Noah decides to build a lifeboat and call it the Ark. The man goes far and wide and invites all of the creatures onboard with his dog, even the bugs. Inside, the Ark is chaotic. The animals are shrieking because they need to be fed and cared for. Then the Ark begins to leak. Noah cleverly uses his dog's nose to plug the leak and thus saves the day. This also explains why dogs' noses are always wet. Pen and ink illustrations are filled in with bright colors. A cheerful palette helps convey the quirkiness of this retelling and support the simple text. Illustrations are creatively broken into segments, similar to comics. Children and adults who are familiar with the biblical tale will truly appreciate this version. VERDICT A charming story that will keep readers engaged and entertained.—Megan McGinnis, Sachem Public Library, Holbrook, NY - Copyright 2015 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
