School Library Journal - 04/01/2021 Gr 3–6—Here's something new: these books open with an examination of the properties of the subject material. This is a great starting point for coming up with new projects and making decisions about structure, durability, alteration, or purpose—perfect for a series that provides ideas and guidelines for projects instead of strict step-by-step instructions. Four such starting points appear in each book, with big photos, cheerful colors, and graphic elements that invite and inspire. In addition to the main recycled material, crafters are encouraged to make use of scraps from other projects and treasures from the recycling bin. Messages about waste and recycling, including pictures of kids handling waste responsibly, reinforce the eco message. VERDICT Idea seeds for creative and conscientious crafters. - Copyright 2021 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
