Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 01/01/2026 The coolest buds in the Arctic are back in this second installment of graphic novels for early readers by Caldecott Honor author and illustrator Lehman. The seaside town of Cozy Cove may look quiet, but it livens up when a mysterious bottle washes up on shore. Together, the four residents of Cozy Cove—an arctic fox, a puffin, an arctic hare, and a harbor seal—embark on an adorable trek across their island to follow the clues to a secret surprise. The clear lines and cool-tone color palette are pleasing to the eyes, and the friends will surely charm young readers. This slim volume not only introduces readers to the method of reading graphic novels but also offers an opportunity to discuss sequencing, different roles in a group project, and reading with expression. The story ends with a page containing a few facts about Atlantic puffins. A delightful little quest where half the fun is wondering what comes next and the other half is being with friends. - Copyright 2026 Booklist.

School Library Journal - 02/27/2026 PreS-Gr 3—Tip, an arctic hare, and friends Blue (arctic fox), Puff (Atlantic puffin), and Sealy (harbor seal) set off in search of treasure after Tip discovers a message in a bottle lying on the beach. Searching for treasure proves to be quite an adventure as well as a hunger-inducing challenge, and after additional messages are found, the group stops for a snack and a nap. Speculation about the treasure abounds, but ultimately, the treasure proves to be a surprising new activity for the friends to enjoy, demonstrating for readers that sometimes the journey with friends is the true reward. This straightforward graphic novel is a great option for children who are just beginning their reading journey. The story moves along briskly through dialogue and action. The crisp lines and bright colors of the illustrations add to the appeal of the story. VERDICT This animal friend adventure is an additional purchase where graphic novels for beginning readers are needed.—Heidi Grange - Copyright 2026 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
