Full Text Reviews:

School Library Journal - 07/22/2022 PreS-Gr 2—Unique and diverse families take part in a wide variety of simple yet special activities together, all agreeing that they love and appreciate moments spent with family. Families enjoy ice cream together, play outside with kites and water, take part in special traditions, and lovingly embrace one another. Peaceful and comforting illustrations combine with the mixed English and Spanish text to share the many things families love doing together, generating a feeling of warmth from the pages. Strong, solid, and bold outlines emphasize characters and objects, with black text indicating English words and pastel purple text providing Spanish words. At the same time, family and friends come together to bring comfort and peace and to face discrimination in order to make the world a better place. Readers will appreciate the beauty of the world around them and the simple moments enjoyed together in this heartwarming title. VERDICT A heartfelt bilingual picture book about the moments both enjoyed and faced together with loved ones.—Selenia Paz - Copyright 2022 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.

Booklist - 04/01/2023 Similar to Dominguez’s previous picture books like I’m Hungry! / ¡Tengo hambre! (2022), this bilingual title offers heartening sentiments to young children. Simple sentences nicely balance English (printed in black) and Spanish (printed in blue) to create affirmations little ones can easily read along with or simply listen to. For instance, “Me gusta your smile. tu sonrisa. and your hugs. tus abrazos.” The sweet, colorful illustrations celebrate multicultural and multiethnic people, showing smiling faces in a variety of settings. The book also obliquely tackles racism by addressing hurtful words: “No me gusta prejudice toward our beautiful skin. nuestra piel hermosa.” However, this is followed by encouragement to listen to one another and to work together to “make things better. mejores.” A lovely tribute to families and communities of all stripes. - Copyright 2023 Booklist.
