School Library Journal - 05/01/2021 Gr 2–4—Woodgate's book is a practical guide to bedtime for young readers. Filled with snippets of information, this guide is organized by topic and is approachable for young readers. Browsers will delight in the short facts and interactive quizzes, testing whether you are an early bird or a night owl, or if you need to get a better night's sleep. Headings for each section tie the numerous captions and infographics together; illustrations are plentiful and provide clarity to the accompanying text. An index and glossary are included; however, source material and additional resources are not provided. Readers will try to spy Mimi Cat, the sleep expert and guide, in illustrations throughout the work. Topics include sleeping positions; stages of sleep; myths, history, and legends; a time line of beds; night shift workers; and examples from the animal world's fascinating sleep facts. Details for creating a sleep journal, practicing mindful breathing, and tips for sleeping well offer practical applications for readers beyond the text. VERDICT An accessible study of sleep that will keep curious readers engaged after the lights go out.—Jamie Jensen, Wayne Cox Elem.
