School Library Journal - 12/22/2023 K-Gr 2—Keyana is a fun-loving girl with big plans for the ultimate sleepover when her old friend, Nia, comes to visit after moving away. With a detailed list of all their old favorites planned, what could possibly go wrong? But the girls can't seem to agree on anything and bickering ensues. The issue isn't as simple as what snack or whether to ride scooters or bikes for Keyana. Will Nia move on without her? This is a great book to show successful conflict resolution. Giving students an opportunity to see the importance of looking at both sides and trying new things will have them making connections to reflect on their own relationships. Barlow's illustrations, featuring Black and brown characters in cozy domestic scenes, add great detail to the story with pastel hues of watercolor that are calming. Readers will want to pack their pajamas and join the sleepover too. VERDICT This is a strong addition to any SEL collection specific to conflict resolution and perfect for elementary school libraries.—Darla Kaminsky - Copyright 2023 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
