Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 04/15/2023 Wizkit is a kitten-like wizard and a total homebody. When she finds herself in a rut, her teacher gives her an enchanted, animated, and overdue book (named Book) to return to the library. Adventure ensues, and Wizkit learns about being confident and enjoys meeting and helping new people. This is a great little fantasy read about not just being yourself but accepting others the way they are, too. The pacing is nice and even: readers will see Wizkit go from a wizard in training who uses magic for selfish reasons, such as to conjure snacks or bewitch brooms for cleaning, to a responsible wizard who thinks beyond her own needs. The simple, stylized drawings let the reader focus on the characters and Wizkit's journey with Book to the library, while dynamic panel layouts make it so readers can enjoy some background setting in between scenes, too. There aren't too many side characters, and all of the speaking characters are distinct and easy to place and follow in the story. Hand it to any kid who loves fantasy adventure stories. - Copyright 2023 Booklist.
