School Library Journal - 04/18/2025 Toddler-PreS—Treading familiar ground, Page's latest picture book offers a simple yet highly effective repertoire of animal noises. Using a simple call-and-response format—"Who meows?/ A cat meows"—the book exposes readers to a variety of animals and the sounds they make. While most animals will be familiar, less common creatures appear. Each spread features a vibrant illustration of the animal on the left page with large, complementary-colored text on the right answering the previous question and offering the next. The open-mouthed animals solidify the focus on sounds and are recognizable. The book ends with an illustration of a child with black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin giggling. A spread of back matter provides additional information on the sounds and aspects of the featured animals. VERDICT An excellent take on animal sounds and a great option for read-alouds.—Kelcy Davis - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
