Booklist - 10/15/2019 Weirdly glowing ice cream that gives “brain freeze” a whole new meaning plays a major role in this second Antarctic antic involving self-styled “Secret Agent 00Zero” (real name Jackson) and sidekick tech wiz Secret Agent Q (aka Quigley). The shocking sight of his favorite uncle Bryn Rockflopper and fellow agents of the FBI (Frosty Bureau of Investigation) eating a strange dessert and then waddling off to rob a bank and a jewellery store propels the portly young sleuth into an investigation that leads, with considerable comical ado, into a newly opened ice cream factory’s secret lab and the discovery that the frozen treat has a (fortunately temporary) hypnotic effect. Braving a dumpster dive, an ice cream truck chase, repeated bully encounters, and worst of all, a protective mom’s wrath, Jackson and Quigley ultimately expose a nefarious scheme. Hay dishes up another lickety split caper, presented in generously leaded lines that share space with frequent views of penguins of diverse species in lab coats or cobbled-together spy gear. Hatchlings with a taste for sweet, uncomplicated mysteries will devour it. - Copyright 2019 Booklist.
