School Library Journal - 05/01/2025 PreS—Maisy is back in all her joyful, crayon-colored glory. In Maisy Big, Maisy Small, rhyming opposite words are taught in an easy, fun way. Even though the words and pictures are fairly sparse, they still burst with details. There are plenty of images that readers can point out and discuss during story time, expanding the reading experience. Cousins has fun with perspective and pattern, adding some texture to opposites like stripes and spots, or spiky and fluffy. Through it all, the blithe, familiar smile of Maisy Mouse keeps the tiny audience safe and sound with these new ideas.
