School Library Journal - 07/01/2024 PreS-K—A charming book to introduce children to firefighters. Sweet yellow puppy Biscuit, along with three children and a kitty, visits a fire station. The puppy brings all the enthusiasm, energy, and joy of a child during the visit. Biscuit finds the fire bell, helmets, boots, and even the Dalmatian fire dog, Dottie. Biscuit and friends meet the two men and the woman working in the fire station and learn that a fire truck has a hose, a ladder, and a terrifyingly loud siren. This latest Biscuit story has all the elements of the best-selling series that have made children love it for years—a minimum number of basic, fun-to-say words are repeated throughout, i.e., "Woof, woof!" and "Clang, clang!" Berlin's sweet illustrations, done in the style of Pat Schories, of the animals, children, firefighters, and firefighting equipment complement the text. VERDICT A charming, easy-to-read book.—Sally James - Copyright 2024 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
