Full Text Reviews:

School Library Journal - 12/01/2023 K-Gr 2—A sweet bilingual picture book sharing the love between a grandmother and granddaughter, including the possibility of a time when one might not be here any longer. A young girl shares the many things she and her abuela love to do: dance, bake, sew, and go to places like the market and the park with their dog. As Abuela begins to move more slowly and take more medicine, she tells her granddaughter that one day she might not be here. When her granddaughter asks where she will go, Abuela shares the many places she and her love will be found. Short and beautiful lyrical sentences describe the places where her love for her granddaughter will be: the sun, the shade, in drops of rain, in the darkness and the wind, and whenever she bakes—just as they would bake together. One page in each spread features the text in English and in Spanish, while the other presents the illustrations in hues of purples, yellows, and greens. These show the grandmother and granddaughter spending time together, with the illustrations growing more magical with every page turn. They both have brown skin. VERDICT A solid addition to bilingual picture book collections, this is a great choice for those looking for stories about grandparents as well as for discussing loss.—Selenia Paz - Copyright 2023 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
