School Library Journal - 09/01/2023 PreS-Gr 1—A sweet story about a family's furry friend finding her new place in the family after a baby is born. Terrier Pepita has always been her mom and dad's bebita (baby). But when their human baby is born, Pepita is the baby no longer. Frustrated by her parents' lack of attention, Pepita acts out. Slowly, she comes to love her sibling and becomes the family's best little helper. Narrated by Pepita, this picture book is available in Spanish or English, featuring one or two short sentences per page with simple language along with Latinx cultural references (the family's ethnicity is not specified). The cartoony illustrations are detailed, and a variety of illustration spread styles are employed, keeping readers interested. VERDICT A cute story relatable for anyone adjusting to a new sibling.—Maria Bohan - Copyright 2023 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
